Fit

Fit The Story Begins with A Knock on the Chin, As a little boy I got hit where I grin, A busted lip, a few stitches to boot, But not too long, I was back lookin’ cute I had no idea, something more happened that day A little more sinister, a price would have to be paid But as it was, I went right along I had all my teeth, thinking nothing was wrong But let us fast forward, about ten years or so I hadn’t the slightest idea, a seed had been sown And seeds once their planted, have no choice but to grow They’ll sprout right inside you, without being known Without the slightest idea, I went on my way The only reminder, the scar on my face But then something happened, you wouldn’t expect So unrelated, you’d never suspect Mom was the first to take notice, as they always seem to do She said my dear son, “your tooth is looking quite blue” I went, checked the mirror, it was slightly dark But still felt quite normal, you couldn’t tell it apart I said, “Oh, its fine Mom, you can hardly tell,” Then ...

Changed

There are moments in our lives, that clearly come from God And when we look back, it’s holy ground we trod I’ll tell you of a time, that's become like this for me Because of it, I’m the better man, than once I used to be I started out all hurried, rushed to start my day But can’t remember what for, embarrassed, I must say Speeding down the highway, towards nothing it seems me now And that is where it happened, so fast, it seemed like pow I was just a bit distracted, again I don’t know why But looked up in the nick of time, to only hear the cry  A woman in a red dress, was out to fix her car And hurtling down the speedway, I clipped into a bar The bar it did go hurling, and dashed her in the head The instant that I saw it, I knew that she’d be dead In the instant that it happened, time seemed to slow and even stop My heart was ripped right out my chest, my soul was turned to sop And as quick as it happened, I hopped right out my car  A...

Duality

Duality Two forces work inside me, one is dark and one is light Two forces work inside me, one hidden and one in sight Two forces work inside me, ever warring for my choice Two forces work inside me, one loud, one quiet voice Life it would be simple, and my choices would be clear If I could silence one part inside, forever to be still But isn’t that the point though? Two compound in the one? The lesser light to rule the night, we’re given moon and sun Each part it is has its season, summer, spring, and fall And when winter comes, and calls the heart, this you should recall Summer needs it’s winter, day needs the night You wouldn’t no what peace meant, if you’d never seen a fight So in the dead of winter, when feelings have gone numb  Look to the sun, remember, that summer soon shall come And if you can remember, these moments will be sweet And find that all four seasons, make the heart complete -CDG

The Way of Kings

There is a way in life, Not many dare to go It is the way of Kings, as I’m about to show What makes a king, a king? The one who wears the crown? The one with many servants? Or mayor of the town? Born of royal blood? Or chose by those of power? Surely he is king, who has the highest tower. The one who rules the army, the one to subjects bow The one who sits upon the throne, endowed with worldly power? Well many say that’s easy, of course the king’s the king The merry king of England, and Russia’s great the Queen There’s princes and there’s barons, the dutchess and the dutch How can you even question, that these and such, are such? While surely I won’t argue, those given title rule the land But who do they report to? Who did deal their hand? There is a King of Kings, The one whom kings do bow And I ask you one more question, did he ever wear a crown? I tell you that he didn’t, never, not but once And those who donned it forced him, and mocked him as...
